5 signs of a poor VoIP provider

  • Is your VoIP provider delivering what you expected?

  • Are you left with a VoIP system that is causing more problems than your previous one did?

  • Are you able to benefit from the full range of features that a VoIP system brings to a business?

Unfortunately, the telecoms market is flooded with business offering cheap deals on systems that just don’t deliver.  So if you’re experiencing issues, what are the tell tale signs that you’ve got a provider that isn’t up to the job?

  1. They don’t look at your broadband connection

Crucially, VoIP enables your phone service to be delivered via the internet rather than through a traditional telephone line. Therefore, it’s critical that when you’re switching to VoIP, your network is assessed to make sure it’s fully capable of handling the increased bandwidth.

  1. The service and support levels aren’t adequate enough

Too many times, promises are made about service levels which aren’t true.  The true test of whether you have a good provider is when you experience an issue and require assistance. Before you sign up, try and do some research and always test your provider’s support service to understand better how quick the response times are and how good the customer service is.

Another way to gain a better idea is to speak to some of their clients and see how effective it’s been for them.

  1. A perfect set of customer reviews

There will always be customers who feel your service has fallen short no matter how good a VoIP provider you are.  Therefore where there is a huge amount of 5 star reviews with glowing testimonials, this could be a sign that they’re engineered to make the company look good and provide a false picture of what they’re really like.

  1. They can beat any quote you have received

When you buy the cheapest VoIP solution, quite often there will be some key features missing that may the reason why you’re investing in a new phone system. No provider can offer such a low price without delivering a system that has limited features and support. Find out why they’re able to offer a low price and compare the system features and support levels with other quotations you might have received.

  1. Contractual terms and penalties

Make sure you read the small print if you intend to move forward with the quote. You may be tied into a contract, making it difficult to leave should you experience problems with penalties too.
